Research education places high demands on those who take it. It comprises courses, own study, research, and in many cases teaching in undergraduate education. Those who thrive as doctoral students are independent, ambitious, and have the ability to formulate and work throug scientific problems.

Application for admission to research education at IEI is always open. Employment as a doctoral student usually lasts 4-5 years. Salary is set according to a fixed salary scale for doctoral students.
